What is the Pilates Method?

I probably can’t go a day or two without someone asking me this question, “What is Pilates anyway?”  Well, let’s answer that question and dive right in ….

Pilates method is a pain relieving method using the whole body.  It’s a beautiful movement system, realigning the musculoskeletal system.  The Pilates method rebalances the body, allowing the body an ability to heal, as well as avoid future injury.  It also works to remind the body of its flexibility.  It literally works through the body’s range of motion while strengthening at the same time.  It helps to balance muscle, all the way down to the joints.  Pilates helps proprioception.  It literally helps one move better on earth: in leisure, at work, in sports, you name it.  Pilates creates grace.  Pilates utilizes, and is also based off of, full breaths.  This alone creates energy and a sense of well being, all while helping your body’s organs function more efficiently.  Especially digestion.  

l would like to go back and touch on pain for a minute: I’ve literally seen numerous clients obtain relief from chronic pain with a regular Pilates routine. Plain and simple.  

I haven’t even mentioned the mental health benefits: Pilates lifts the spirit.  A great class or session can leave you feeling on top the world, ready to take on anything.  Pilates is more than therapeutic: it is amazing!  Life changing.
